Full Description:
Temecula Toastamasters 'Team' 1677 earned the top honor from Toastmasters International for 2008-2009 club year: The President's Distinguished Club Award and the Ralph Smedley Award for membership.
"Our club operates as a finely-tuned team," said Lynda Giusti-Parra, president of the club since July of 2008. "Each member brings unique talents easily shared among the club. When you experience the synergy of our goal-oriented, commited membership, the results can only be stellar. I couldn't be prouder of my truly kind, outstandingly creative, thoroughly participatory and very well-spoken team. Wow!", she said.
Stringent criteria in awarding the President's Distinguished Club award involves membership aquisition and retention. More importantly, Toastmasters International is an educational club, therefore, ensuring that the membership achieves individual, public speaking goals is of the utmost importance. Each member is mentored as he/she works through specific speaking and leadership manuals at his or her own pace.
"Gene Somers, the vice president of education and Randy Powell, the vice president of membership are truly great speakers and mentors. Cicy Yarris, our vice president of public relations pushed the membership way outside of the comfort zone by obtaining the Advanced Communicator Silver Award in a little over one year. That's about 40 speeches and numerous club projects. That's dedication. Steve Herried, the sargeant-at-arms mentored the club with his tenured advice, as well as monitoring the logistics of each meeting. Treasurer Mindy Chen does a great job, too," said Giusti-Parra.
With more than 200,000 members in 10,000 clubs in 80 countries, since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident speakers and leaders in front of an audience.
"Our network of clubs, especially Temecula Toastmasters Team 1677 learning lab program will definitely help you become a captivating speaker and charismatic, confident leader," said Giusti-Parra. "Why in the world would you pay thousands of dollars for a seminar when you can join Temecula Toastmasters Team 1677 for about $10 a month -- less than a gym membership. We invite you to come and 'work out' with us," said Giusti-Parra.
Temecula Toastmasters Team 1677 meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The public is always invited. For more information, visit: www.temeculatoastmasters.org.
